TicketsA lesbian road movie with a rollercoaster plot, followed by Q & A with Director Louise Wadley
Hebden Bridge Film Festival and Girls‘ Own Pictures Pictures present: All About E
To coincide with the 10th Anniversary of Happy Valley Pride, we are delighted to present the 10th anniversary screening of All About E, the feature film by Louise Wadley screening at Hebden Bridge Picture House, Friday 24 July 7pm.
A runaway hit on the queer film festival circuit with a much talked about sex scene, All About E is a lesbian road movie with a rollercoaster plot that weaves in complex issues about identity, family and sexuality as well as having a lot of fun along the way.
E seems to have it all. A star DJ at Sydney's top gay nightclub she has her pick of the girls. But all is not as it seems. E isn’t out to her traditional migrant family, she's abandoned classical music (her real passion) and she's lost Trish, the one relationship that really mattered. When she stumbles on a stash of cash, she and her gay best friend and husband of convenience, Matt, are forced to run. But E finds she has burnt too many bridges, and there is nowhere to run but outback Australia and into the arms of the ex-girlfriend who broke her heart. Can she keep the money, conquer her demons, AND get the girl?
Wadley says: People have called All About E the Lesbian "Priscilla" and I am really happy with that. I love movies like Priscilla: Queen of the Desert and Muriel's Wedding because they are super entertaining but actually quite subversive and dark in parts where characters are forced to face challenging situations - and therefore themselves. I wanted people to come out happy and uplifted in contrast to that overdone trope of the lesbian heroine who is miserable or dies. I am grateful to still get messages from people all around the world how All About E has inspired them to come out to their families or find the courage to be true to themselves, whatever that may be.
Louise Wadley graduated from the NFTS and is a Nicolls Semi-finalist. She developed All About E at the Outfest Script Lab in LA. She set up Girl ‘Own Pictures with her partner Jay Rutovitz to make more female centric films. They established the Hebden Bridge Film Festival in 2019.
